The Political Bureau of the Turkmen Eli Party Holds its Regular Meeting
Today, Wednesday, March 20, the Political Bureau of the Turkmeneli Party held a meeting chaired by Mr. Riad Sari Kahya, the party’s president, at the headquarters in Kirkuk city. The attendees discussed:
Firstly… Confirming our previous proposal regarding the sharing of local power to manage the province, which includes alternating between Turkmen, Kurds, and Arabs for a period of (16) months each.
Secondly: We respect the formation of the Turkmen framework (Itar)within the Iraqi Parliament and at the same time, we hope that this is a step in the right direction towards forming a broad Turkmen entity, encompassing all parties and political forces to serve our national cause.
Thirdly: Inviting the deputies of Kirkuk governorate and the newly elected council members to systematically work to eliminate the phenomenon of ownership by those coming from other provinces to Kirkuk, in order to prevent demographic change. This is contrary to the Iraqi Constitution of 2005, which states in Article 23, Paragraph 3(b), “Ownership for the purpose of demographic change is prohibited.”
Fourthly: Demanding that the relevant authorities in Kirkuk governorate refrain from dealing with properties seized by the former regime within the boundaries of Kirkuk municipality until the new council convenes and decides on them.
Fifthly: Not closing the file of internally displaced persons and refugees currently, as closing it in the future will be difficult and complex. We are working to find solutions to this issue and not monopolize it.
